I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our vacation! (except the flight) it was just perfect, the Riu Vallarta was fabulous, so clean and beautiful, and the food was terrific. And I wanted to thank you for our gift from you, it was so cute.

Hi Jill,
What a great trip you/we planned! Absolutely every ground transfer was punctual, safe and friendly. (The roads were of course much more bumpy than you could ever imagine)
Activities and side trips:
Arenal hike --afternoon was great because we ended as the sun set and could see the red lava
Hot Springs--Wonderful (I could stay there about a year)
In Monteverde we did a package from Selvatura tours that included, the canopy tour (zip lines), butterfly garden, hummingbird garden, insect display, reptiles and the swinging bridges.
At Playa Langosta
I did a 3 hr. kayak trip through the mangroves with a short hike - OK, but didn't really see much.
We also did a morning snorkel - -This was great. Saw lots of fish, a little shark. This tour was pretty popular. At noon, we were on the waiting list for the next day, but did get to go because they added a small boat. Tour was from an independent at the hotel/pool area
Accomodations:
I'd encourage anyone who goes to Costa to stay at least a couple of nights at Tabacon!
In Monteverde, the Heliconia was just very unusual. Our building had two rooms, was on the side of a mountain and was brand new and spotless. The unusual part was how it was arranged, ie, a bath tub in the open ajoining the master, a lft with two twin beds, and the least "user friendly" bathroom we've ever seen. A mirror that you had to lean over to see in to, a pedestal sink with a very narrow rim, a low toilet with a rounded seat and back, a huge walk in shower with no soap dish, shelves or hooks. There was one small towel rod near the door. but not a hook or ledge to put anything on. Basically, you needed to put clothes, toiletries etc on the floor! It surely must have been designed by men, eventough I think it would frustrate any man to shave or brush their teeth in that bath! I'll attach some pics. If they'd just put in some shelves and hooks and adjust the mirror, it may be liveable.
The resort at Langosta was great. The room, service, pool, entertainment and food was very good! The Allegra Papagayo that was supposed to be one notch above Langosta was closed down by the government on Friday, 2/1 for water contamination.
What a beautiful country, with beautiful people and absolutely pure food. The best tuna and ice cream I've ever tasted!
I'd go again (tomorrow, if possible), but perhaps the next time, I'd fly into and out of Liberia. San Jose was maybe a waste since we didn't travel south or spend any time there. I think the roads from Liberia airport to Arenal and Monteverde are better too.
I hope you don't think, I'm too critical. I'm just trying fine tune a truly great experience.

Hello Jill,
Hey, fabuluos trip to the Riu Cancun, great choice on hotel, everyone loved it, so did I....I still prefer the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa, that was the best so far, but this was great....everyone loved being within walking distance to so many great shops....the food was spectacular, maybe the best I have ever had on any trip hands down!

The beaches in Playa are soooo much better, though....luckily this wasn't a beach crowd, although some would have preferred being able to have longer beach walks...the beach is very limited there as you know, but nice. The pools were super, and the service was amazing, we loved the specialty restaurants!

They are all ready to go to Playa with me next year!!!
Need some pricing for Riu Palace Mexico, maybe the five night like John and I did? Looking at either Jan, Feb. or late Nov.....

Jill, thanks so much for your suggestions to stay at the Grand Sirenis and for your efficient planning. All eight in our group were extremely pleased with all facets of the vacation and plan a return trip next year. We will certainly recommend Dr Trips and expecially you personally to all our friends.
